Harry’s love for Ginny is true

J.K. Rowling: Exeter College Oxford Lecture [2014]

"Ginny and Harry really are soulmates. I think she’s like Harry. She’s got an intellectual curiosity and she’s got something of belief."

J.K. Rowling: Harry, A History: Discussing the Veil [2008]

"Harry and Ginny were always meant to be together. I thought it was obvious, but apparently there were internet wars about this."

J.K. Rowling: Open Book Tour at Carnegie Hall [2007]

"Harry and Ginny are real soulmates, they’re both very strong, very passionate. That’s their connection, and they’re remarkable together."

J.K. Rowling: Open Book Tour at Carnegie Hall [2007]

"The plan was, which I really hope I fulfilled, is that the reader, like Harry, would gradually discover Ginny as pretty much the ideal girl for Harry. She’s tough, not in an unpleasant way, but she’s gutsy. He needs to be with someone who can stand the demands of being with Harry Potter, because he’s a scary boyfriend in a lot of ways. He’s a marked man. I think she’s funny, and I think that she’s very warm and compassionate. These are all things that Harry requires in his ideal woman. I feel that Ginny and Harry, they are total equals. They are worthy of each other. They’ve both gone through a big emotional journey, and they’ve really got over a lot of delusions together. So, I enjoyed writing that. I really like Ginny as a character."

The moment when Harry takes Draco's wand

J. K. Rowling: I said to Arthur, my American editor - we had an interesting conversation during the editing of seven - the moment when Harry takes Draco's wand, Arthur said, God, that's the moment when the ownership of the Elder wand is actually transferred? And I said, that's right. He said, shouldn't that be a bit more dramatic? And I said, no, not at all, the reverse. I said to Arthur, I think it really puts the elaborate, grandiose plans of Dumbledore and Voldemort in their place. That actually the history of the wizarding world hinged on two teenage boys wrestling with each other. They weren't even using magic. It became an ugly little corner tussle for the possession of wands. And I really liked that - that very human moment, as opposed to these two wizards who were twitching strings and manipulating and implanting information and husbanding information and guarding information, you know? Ultimately it just came down to that, a little scuffle and fistfight in the corner and pulling a wand away.

Melissa Anelli: It says a lot about the world at large, I think, about conflict in the world, it's these little things -

J. K. Rowing: And the difference one individual can make. Always, the difference one individual can make.

J.K Rowling said that her inspiration for Hagrid came from when she was 19  in a pub in the west country and this terrifying looking guy came in with these other biker guys and the only thing he talked to J.K about was how his cabbages were getting on

Harry is a boy who needs some fun, and he gets that from Ron, and he’s also a boy who, even though he’s been marked for this strange destiny, doesn’t know a lot - and that’s where Hermione comes in. So I give Harry these two friends who give him things he needs.
